Experts from the European-funded GRACE project, together with Europol’s European Cybercrime Centre (EC3) and the European Cybercrime Training and Education Group (ECTEG), prepared guidelines for first responders in Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Cases.
This toolkit aims to equip officers with crucial knowledge to effectively handle delicate situations that take place at a victim’s close whereabouts, such as their home or school, often hidden from the eyes of the public. The guidelines include unified standards that officers can use in their daily work, equipping them with the information on how best to respond if they come across a child they believe is being sexually abused.
The report provides a list of child victims’ rights and automatic responses to fear and trauma. Basic terminology and examples of scenarios on how first responders may learn about potential sexual abuse are also included.
